Ash Wednesday Service is the beginning of our observance of Lent. Ash Wednesday or Day of Ashes name comes from the practice of rubbing ashes on one’s forehead in the sigh of a cross. Lent is a period of fasting, moderation, and self-denial ending with Easter Sunday.
Lent consists of the 40 days before Easter (not counting Sundays). It is a time of getting ready for the death and resurrection of Jesus.
