From the Pastor: The Resurrection

Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born. I Corinthians 15:1-8

This week we celebrate Resurrection Sunday or Easter. Good Friday was a very dark day for the followers of Jesus. Jesus died. It seemed as if they had been wrong about Jesus. Or at least until Sunday . . .

Holy Week Reflection: Saturday

As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him. Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away. Holy Week: Good Friday

23 records the details of Christ’s trial and crucifixion. It was the climax of a week filled with activity and emotions, especially for Christ’s followers.  His miracles and teachings had gained the attention of both the people and the religious leaders.
