Focus

Christmas is one of my favorite time of the year. I enjoy spending time with family and friends celebrating. Christmas is more than Christmas trees, Santa Claus and gifts. Christmas is the time we remember the best gift ever given — Jesus. Jesus came to bring healing, hope and forgiveness to humans. He came because God wanted to shows us how much he loves and cares for us.

Day 1

Read Angel Promises from the Action Bible pages 550-555 OR read Luke 1:26-26.

Day 2

Read Mary & Joseph from the Action Bible pages 558-559 OR read Matthew 1:18-25.

Day 3

The Old Testaments prophets predicted the birth of Jesus. Let’s look at some of these prophesies.

All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).

Isaiah 7:14

6 For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!

Today we will look at what the angel Gabriel told Mary.

28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” 29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”

Day 5

Today we will look at the angel’s message to Joseph.

20 As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”

22 All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet: 23 “Look! The virgin will conceive a child!
She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’”
