The Big Story

The Big Story Week 9: Plagues & Wilderness

Bible Truths

  • God keeps His promises. (Week 3)
  • God provides for us. (Week 4)
  • God wants to communicate with us.

Bible Verse

The law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we could be made right with God through faith.

Galatians 3:24 New Living Translation

Focus

Last week we learned that God had heard the cries of the Israelites. God sent Moses to help them. In this week’s lesson we will learn how God uses Moses to rescue the Israelites.

Day 1

Day 2

  1. Read Exodus 6:6-8. What promise did God make to the Israelites?
  2. In Exodus 13:17-19, why did God lead the Israelites into the wilderness or desert?
  3. According to Exodus 13:20-22 how did God guide the Israelites?

God is able to take care of us even when things seem impossible. We have to trust God in the big things as well as the small things.

Day 3

Read Exodus 14:15-31.

What happened when the Israelites reach the Red Sea? There were probably about one million Israelites. That is a lot of people. They were stuck between the Egyptian army and the Sea. God provided and escape for them when it did not seem possible. Moses had to trust God and obey. The Israelites had to listen and obey Moses. God provides for us but we have to be willing to obey and trust him.

Day 4

Day 5

Let’s review this week’s lesson.

God rescued the Israelites but unfortunately the Egyptians suffered a lot because the Pharaoh would not listen.
Pharaoh thought he was bigger than the God. Sin, disobedience to the God and causes pain for us and those around us.

Pharaoh refused to listen to God and let Israel go. Have you ever refused to obey God? You know what, all of us have. Romans 3:23 says everyone has sinned. Sin causes us to be separated from God.

You know what God loved us so much that he provided a way for our relationship to be restored.

21 But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses[a] and the prophets long ago. 22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.
